My previous version was academic now I want to install cs3 master collection it is not an upgrade path? Should I just go ahead and install the disk and it wont mess up my prior cs2 work? If I unistall my previous version will I then lose all my projects?

    thanks

Since version 4 or earlier, you’ve always been able to keep an old version of AE on your machine. There’s no need to uninstall the old version — the installer doesn’t overwrite “after effects”, it writes a new app under the new version number.

But if you do choose to uninstall the old version, you won’t lose the projects. But you will lose the old preferences, and probably any Render Setting and Output Module templates you’ve made … unless you specifically saved them as a file.
