  Quick Question – Z7 m2t 24P can only be converted to apple pro res?

  Hey there,

  I’m starting an editing job in two weeks that will use the sony Z7 camera, which i haven’t worked with yet, so I know very little about it. The footage is on 24p (I assume it’s 24pA) and I’m going for the card workflow (using the log and transfer window to convert the m2t files). Now, I’ve read that when importing a 24p footage, final cut converts it to a apple pro res QT. Is that right? Why does the apple pro res codec is not also used when converting other formats? The reason I’m asking is because I was hopping to get something lighter. Is there any other workflow using the card that i can use?
