  • Quick question: Set the Invigorator layer to 3d or leave at 2d in After Effects?

Posted by Mike Schmitt on February 11, 2006 at 5:33 pm

I havne’t used Invigorator in over a year. I’m using the lights in After Effects and when I enable 3d on the Invig layer I get a box telling me that the lights should be used on a 2d layer.

I seem to remember having to set it at 3d.

    Which is right?

    Thanks~

If it makes a difference, I’m using After Effects Pro 2 with the latest version of Invig Pro.

    Thanks,

I’d still like to know if AE should be set for 3d or 2d on that layer.

Thanks and sorry for bumbling my posts. I’m fried.

    Mike,

In most cases, the AE layer with Invig applied should be left 2d, with the checkbox for use comp lights (and possibly camera) selected in the Invig control panel.

If you’re using the current version of Invig Pro AE, you might find the new 3D object tracking feature very helpful. John Dickenson has written a nice 2-part tutorial about that.
