  • Quick Question about Timeline

Posted by Michael Allen on August 4, 2005 at 2:50 pm

When ever I drop a clip in the timeline, the scrubber (CTI) or whatever you call it in FCP always goes to the end of the clip that I am putting in the timeline. Most of the time I want to work on the front of the clip first, so I have to scroll back until I find it each and every time. My question is, can I change a setting to get the timeline veiw (or CTI-Scrubber)to stay at the front of the clip that I am inserting? Forgive me for the simple question, I am a converting M100 user.

Also, for future reference, what do you call the timeline scrubber in FCP?

    Thanks in advance.

well, the ‘scrubber’ is what i call the playhead … but that might not be what everyone else calls it.
as far as inserting a clip and getting the playhead to snap to the in-point rather than out-point i’m afraid i don’t know

It puts is at the end so you know where you are. To get to the head of the clip hit the up arrow. Also, if you learn to trim in the viewer window it makes this process much easier. Believe me, I am a former M100 user and getting used to trimming before putting everything in the timeline is a much different style than M100. Once you learn it, it works well.
