Quick question…
Posted by Nico Jones on March 2, 2007 at 10:45 amI need to do an overnight render…around 6 hours or so. If I set my MAC to go to sleep after 3 hours will this mess up the render? Does the sleep timer go by mouse inactivity or processor inactivity?
cheers chaps.

March 2, 2007 at 4:04 pmits probably too late now, but to be safe, i would tell your mac not to go to sleep. you can always turn your monitor off if that’s an issue — unless it’s an imac, then you could set your screen saver to computer name, or something not too bright, if you need to sleep by your computer.

March 2, 2007 at 4:07 pmSome fax software doesn’t let the computer sleep, but I don’t know if it is because the software is running in the background, or because it specifically prevents sleep from engaging. So I also don’t know if AE’s processor activity would prevent sleep.
I’d recommend you set up a 10-minute render, and set the system to sleep after five minutes. And see what happens. If the computer doesn’t sleep, then AE’s processor activity keeps it awake.
If you feel lucky, you might also try this allowing the disc to spin down after 10 minutes as well.
