    hey guys i’m a digital editor and i have to make a quick background in photoshop…
    this is really basic but it’s driving me nuts…

    i have two images on top of each other…
    think about two square pictures one is the background the other is smaller and on top.

    is there an easy way to merge the two pictures so there is no seam between the two ?

    sort of like a nice fading effect ? but just on the edge ?

    i hope that i don’t insult anyone with such an easy question…

    thanks so much

    Method 1:
    on the top layer, make a mask
    Layer > Add Layer Mask
    use a brush with a soft edge to paint black in the mask. Whatever is black in the mask will turn transparent.

    Method 2:
    Use the eraser tool to erase the edges of the top layer.
    To soften the eraser edges, use Shift [ (or in other glyphs) {
