    Hi guys!

You do wonderful job in this forum I have to say! I’ve been reading this forum for a while now and have been learning a lot! This is the first time I post here, and this a really stupid question, but try to bare with me 🙂
I’m just wondering what are the best options for exporting a file into Premiere from AE? I’ve tried to export as a standard windows AVI but the clip isn’t transparent anymore in premiere. I would like to know how you professionals like to export your files from After effects? Is ie. targa a good choise for file format?

If somebody has got the time to help out this stupid newbie, I would appreciate it greatly! Thanks!

If you have the newer Premiere, I believe you can just copy/paste, otherwise whatever format you export as, make sure it has an alpha (+).

In the Render Que (Ctrl M), choose a format, like Lossless, double click on the Blue Loseless and up pops the “Output Module”.

Now in the “Video Output” section, from the Channels dropdown choose, RGB + Alpha, this should change Depth (the dropdown below from Millions of Colors to Millions of Colors+. That’s the key thing for any of the codecs (or Uncompressed here) to make sure you get the little + (alpha).

Popular codecs are QT Animation, and Tiff or Targa Sequence (then if your render crashes, you can pickup from there).

    Hope this helps.
