    Hey guys,

I’m doing an animation for a client in after effects for them to import later into AVID. To give my client as much freedom as possible, I’m making the animation comp about 1800×1200 with the content smaller allowing for the effect flares and such to bleed significantly beyond the main graphics. The idea here is to let the client be able to shrink down the animation some and position where they want in the avid sequences (mine will be alpha channeled).

My question is what do you do in your avid setting or effects to have it retain the actual comp settings, rather than it automatically reducing it to 720×486, 72dpi. The more sophisticated AVIDs I’m pretty certain can do that, but my client has older avids (media composers, pc based, pre-adrenaline).

Techniques to accomplish this would be great. thanks!

    Rick

Not much, really. He can hit a resize on import, that will stretch and shrink it, unless you do a multiple of 720 x 486, it will distort.

Unless the client has access to AE, he’s going to have troubles with that animation. If you are unsure, make him a 720 x 486 lower field first .9 pixel animation.

as John said, it limits the import to 720X486 (unless it’s a DS). They will need to be comfortable with the freedoms of after effects to utilize the larger file.
I’m sure anything you could do to properly frame the shots in a 720X486 world would be much appriciated by the editor.
