Quick Chroma Key Question
I’m getting ready for a chroma key shoot and have a quick question.
The green screen lighting. Can the green screen lighting be a different color temp than the talent?
The reason I asked is I may have to use a mix / blend of different lamps and I’m looking for a very dark colored talent picture. (consider a Nightline interview lighting look) I have plenty of green screen wash light, but I’m pretty set on my wants for the talent lighting.
I would appreciate any input on this.
PS., oh I forgot, is there a minimum amount of light density that’s needed on the back drop?

Short answer – no.
I have a permanent greenscreen wall that is lit with 15 fluorescent fixtures and the talent lights are 500-Watt halogens.
Your greenscreen can be any color, but you ideally want a primary color (RG or B) and one that is not on your subject (there goes red and blue). As long as the background is evenly lit, you should have no problems.

I have a 10×20 material green screen that I recently picked up, and will use for portable situations. It’s been so long since I did any screen work that I wasn’t sure. First green screen with Sony Vegas Pro and I wanted to be sure to get it right in the field before I got back here and ended up with ‘problems’ and no solutions.
