  • QUICK ?: Transfering clip markers between editors

Posted by Chris Guevarra on July 8, 2010 at 7:28 pm

    Hi creative cows,

    Quick question:

Is there a way to transfer markers made onto clips between 2 editors/drives.

We’re currently assembling our documentary’s footage right now and would like to keep each editor/”set of drives” updated with any changes made to the clips (renaming clips, markers, etc).

    Thanks,

Yes. Put the clips into a bin on a separate project file. Send that project to the other editor. They will have to RECONNECT to the media on their drive…unless you all were smart and named the drives the same thing, and kept the exact same file structure.

Whatever you change, give to him in a separate project, then they drag into their main and replace whatever clips these replace. And they do the same for you.

If you rename the clips in the Browser, DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT use the RENAME function in FCP to rename the media files. If you do, then the other editor will not be able to reconnect the clips to the media on their drive.
