  • Questions: Editing My First Commercial

    Greetings!

I’ve just finished editing my first television commercial. It’s a 30 second spot. This is a new arena for me, so I have a few questions.

The cable provider asked that the total length be 29.5 seconds. I’m there now, with no fades, etc. Is it best to have the commercial start from the first frame of video, or should I have it fade in? How many frames for a fade in? Also, what do I need to do with the end of the spot? Do I fade out or just let it run to last frame?

Of course, I would welcome and appreciate any other tips or suggestions!

Wishing you all a blessed holiday!

    Dave:

Ended up getting it all figured out after talking to the cable coordinator. Nothing too difficult.

He wanted the spots to be 0:29;15 and delivered in a QT file format, with audio levels as close to zero as possible. Interesting, but that’s what I gave him.

    Thanks for your response!

    Blessings,
