I have a question concerning the Vegas SDK. In a project, we want to automate some Editing-Functions and the Reference can not give answers to important questions:

    1) Is it possible to write a plugin, that read pathes from ressources (for example Images and Audio from a XML-file) and put these at specific places on the timeline?
    2) With special video- and audio-transitions?

Even if the above is not possible, than can you automatically:
    3) Set Chapter-Markers?
    4) Export directly as a DVD with a menu?

    Thanks in advance,
    Hans

    yes

[Hans Huber] “With special video- and audio-transitions?”

I’m assuming yes – define “special”

    [Hans Huber] “Set Chapter-Markers?”

    yes

[Hans Huber] “Export directly as a DVD with a menu?”

    No.

Thank you Edward for your fast answer. With the word “special” I did not make myself clear, I meant all the available transitions provided by Vegas. Is that possible?
Do you know good resources to familiarize myself with the functions of the Vegas SDK? I have already looked into the “VegasScriptAPI.html” but an overview over the functions (not only the classes and interfaces) would be great. Do you know if there are already similar projects or scripts to learn from?

What is the DVD-Authoring-Software of choice when working with Vegas?

    Thank you so much,
    Hans

Hans, just buy Edward Troxel’s plug-in called Excalibur. It’s fantastic and will save you hours of work. Not to mention the time it would take to create your own script. Just saying………

There is a lot of scripting information on my website. You can also look at other scripts and see how they do things. And, yes, transitions can be added via scripting!
