Question regarding youtube quality.
Hey guys.
So I just got into video making as a hobby and I love it thoroughly. I only have Vegas 13 to play around with but once I have the money I’m going to broaden my horizons.
Anyways I record and edit film for a video game called Planetside 2. I record lossless with Lagarith at 30fps (the clips show up as .avi) then import them into Sony Vegas for editing.
Settings:
Frame rate: 29.970 (NTSC)
Full-Resolution rendering-quality: Best
Motion blur-type: Gaussian
Deinterlace method: InterpolateMy questions are this – I understand Youtube compresses and encodes files with H.264 and no matter what I will take a quality loss. But if the file uploaded is already encoded as H.264, will Youtube still double encode it? If so that doesnt make any sense to me.
I read online that I can upload lossless HD to youtube and that it’s pretty much the best way to ensure true-HD. But what file type constitutes “lossless” and can I render it out from Vegas? If so, what media type is it? I know .mp4 is H.264 so it can’t be that.
I tried downloading H.264 from their website to just render the file out already encoded but it wouldnt work.
System:
i7-2600 3.4GHz boosted to 3.8GHz
Radeon HD 6900 2GB
16GB GDDR3 RAM
Windows 7Internet:
Download – 53.01Mbps
Upload – 4.25MbpsIn short: I have Lagarith true HD raw footage. I need to edit in Sony Vegas. From Vegas how do I get highest possible quality period so I can upload to Youtube.
Thanks for any help.
