Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Question on “pass through” capture

  • Question on “pass through” capture

Posted by Doug Lewis on September 9, 2005 at 9:39 pm

I have a collection of NYPD Blue episodes that I have recorded on VHS tapes, over the years. I would like to capture onto my computer, edit out commercials and make into DVDs. I have Vegas 5 and DVDA2. I also have a Canon GL1, a Canon GL2 and a Sony VX2100 camera. Does anyone know if I can do a “pass through” using one of these cameras and Vegas to get the video into the computer? I only have firewire for my computer, no analog to digital converter. If it is possible to do this could someone explain the steps and settings for Vegas, or direct me to a source for this info. Thanks.

On the VX-2100, go into the menu and set the VCR SETTING> A/V to DV OUT to on and you should be good to go.

Also, in Vegas Capture, make sure you turn off Device Control.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I’ll give that a try.
