  • Question on 3D tracking specific objects

Posted by Rick Johnson on January 8, 2012 at 2:15 am

I have searched everywhere and have not figured out an answer to my question. I am currently working on a short film in which characters will be using flashlights to create trails of light (using Trapcode Partiular 2). The shots are hand held so I Have been using the Foundry’s Camera Tracker inside of AE, but have not found a way to tell it to specifically track the light coming from the flashlights in the shots. My goal is to track in a 3D null object to which I can parent a light to act as the emmiter for Particular. If anyone knows of how I can achieve this I would be very greatful if you could help me out.

    Thanks

Whe you say “light coming from the flashlights” do you mean the bright spot on the flashlight(tip) or the light itself (volumetric light in 3d space)?

can you post a Screenshot? And also explain if you intend to emitt particles that stay in place (like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_writing) or that follows the flashlight pointing direction?
