question for today…. underlining text / underline in fcpx
hi
anyone know how to underline text in the text generators in fcpx?
i have a sentence to super up on a shot and the last word ONLY (a hyperlink) needs to be underlined
there doesn’t appear to be an underline option in the text info window and i’ve tried importing parts of and the whole line already underlined from text and other word software – to no avail
ideas welcome

Create the line independent of the text object. If you have Motion 5, create a title or effect project with a line that you can adjust and publish it to FCPX. However, if that’s out of your comfort zone, or you don’t have Motion 5, you can create one in the generators. Look for Shapes in Elements and add it atop your text. Change the shape to rectangle and then use the transform tools to size it down how you need it.

The thing with underline is quite complicated.
Most of the Motion templates which do use text allow to use .rtf styled text. But quite often (independent of Motion or FCPX) some font style won’t allow a certain mixture of basic styles (plain, bold, italic, bold-italic) with the underline. Same as the outline style from rtf files will collide with the possible outline setting of a Motion template.This is something Apple has to check and resolve for a lot of apps (including their own) system wide.
