as an x edit*or I was wondering how do you like the stability and real time performance of
FCP. it has certainly looks like it has come a long was in 6 years. I have been on velocity which was bascially everything what edit should have been but thats EOL. what looks intriging about FCP is the integration with motion and shake. -

Hey Mike!!!
I’ve been very happy with FCP. FCP and MAC computers in general are far more stable than anything I ever had on the PC side. It certainly helps that Apple makes the hardware and software. It just works, and works elegantly.
There are a few things in FCP that could improved, such as the seamless onlining we’re used to, but for the most part its quite spiffy and very powerful. Everything does have to be rendered (eventually), and so FCP gets a bad rap from all the guys who spent big bucks on Matrox Axio, but, the rendering doesn’t have to happen while you’re editing, and, you can defer it until you go to lunch or do it all over overnight if you choose. Anyway, the rendering is so speedy anyway that in most cases that no one really cares. And yes, the integration with Motion, Soundtrack Pro, and DVDSP are certainly well worth the price of admission. More importantly, as I mentioned in a post here yesterday which you may have seen, is the fact that work on FCP is quite plentiful — I’ve been busy since the day I bought my FCP 1.5 years ago.
