  • Question about transferring to HD

Hi, Guys hope things are well. Wanted to ask a question about transferring to HD. I called a house that did a transfer for me on Beta SP and did a good job. I asked about transferring to HD from a hard drive. My feature is on a hard drive and I want to transfer to HD to have my master on HD. If you recall I shot my film on the Panasonic DVX100a. And I was told to transfer to HD to improve the quality a little bit. My question is that the person at the house asked me to what type of HD I want to transfer to?
What type of HD should I transfer to? My film is one hour and forty-minutes.

The guy told me $135 an hour to transfer to HD. Does that sound right or is it too little?

    Be well,
    Antonio

It’s not going to improve the quality at all, only make the existing quality playable on HD tape. Rate sounds ok but it fully depends on how they are doing the upconvert and on what equipment.

But to what type of HD should I transfer to?

That’s up to you. You could go D5 or HDCAM as the most common again. But again there’s no reason to if you don’t even know where you’re playing it.
