  • Question about TC syncing the XL-H1 and XH-G1

Posted by Howard Brodsky on February 3, 2008 at 1:25 am

Both of these cameras have jack packs for genlock and TC synchronization. I have both cameras set for HD 1080/60i in drop frame and rec run modes. I’ve got a single SDI/BNC cable going from the XL-H1’s TC out to the XH-G1’s TC in.

Should I set the XL-H1 for int user bit and the XH-G1 for ext user bit?

Can I disconnect the cable after these cameras handshake and still maintain TC sync?

    Followup,

Both cameras were actually set to int user bit. I assume there is some automatic priority over-ride involved in the time code syncing process. The two cameras synced up perfectly. I removed the cable and the XH-G1 was still in sync with the XL-H1.

This was just to test out the system and I had a test tape in the XL-H1 which ran out. The XH-G1 still continued with the same “synced” time code stream. Even after I turned the XH-G! off, when powered up it was still in the same “synced” timecode stream! Even after I removed the battery and replaced it – the XH-G1 was still in the same “synced” timecode stream!

I created a monster that has run amok! How do I stop this thing?
