Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro question about syncing DSLR footage

  • question about syncing DSLR footage

Posted by Ben Oliver on March 11, 2011 at 3:36 am

I am about to embark upon shooting a documentary over the next few months with my DSLR and my trusty Tascam DR-100 audio recorder.

Syncing the audio is easy, but is there anyway for me to link the clips once synced and put them back in a bin? I can easily do this with FCP and am wondering if a similar functionality is in premiere pro cs5.

I would love to be able to sync the footage, make bins, so I can watch the footage over hte next few months, make rough edits, and not have to keep all the footage in a timeline.

    Thanks for the help,

    -Ben

Delete the audio attached to the video, group the DR100 audio and the video after syncing, then create a subclip from the new grouped file.

You could also use PluralEyes for Premiere which automatically creates clips with the new audio.

Actually, you can’t create subclips with different audio/video sources. You can link the synced audio in a “scratch” timeline and refer to it as needed but these joined clips will not live in your bin.

Subclips in Premiere are just trimmed down original clips.
