Question about Resolve
Posted by Carlos Castro on June 23, 2011 at 11:39 pmIs it necessary to use a controller or can it run on its own like magic bullet or color?
I frankly can’t afford the controllers at this point.
Thanks.

June 24, 2011 at 1:58 amtotally possible, however as a professional grading tool you’ll see a lot more functionality and speed using a supported panel. Resolve was built with a control surface in mind – without you’ll be handicapped a bit but you can still function quite well but slower.

June 24, 2011 at 12:29 pmThank you Robbie, It’s my intension to get a controller but at this point in time I simply can’t afford one. However the reputation of the software and its quality is to tempting to pass up until I can gather the I believe $3,000 dollars or so for a controller. Especially since it appears my current color correction/color grading software is getting put to sleep by Apple. I can at least use it the way I used Color and eventually get the controller for optimum use.
Thank you for your time.

June 24, 2011 at 1:38 pmThe Wave is only 1500, so is the MC Color.
For 3000, you will get both 🙂A slice of color…

June 24, 2011 at 2:03 pmThanks, I didn’t know that. I have only seen the one on the Davinci website, go to know I can get one for half. Do you own either or can you recommend one or the other?
Thanks

June 24, 2011 at 3:48 pmI’ve had good luck with the Tangent wave. I know Adorama has a bundle that can save you a few hundred bucks.

June 24, 2011 at 9:08 pmI have used the MC Color with Color and the Tangent with Resolve… I liked the feel and quality of the MC Color more, but never felt that the tangent was lacking, so when MC color support came out, I never switched back. They’re very close in all fairness…

June 24, 2011 at 10:34 pmThanks for the input guys, I’m assuming these companies make products for both Mac and PC. I’m on Mac for whatever it’s worth. I’ll look into the controllers you guys suggested and hopefully find one that works for me.
thanks !
