Question about ‘Crystals’ emitter in emitters_11_01 pack.
PI3 stand-alone.
This is a very specific question about the Crystals emitter in the pack mentioned above.
Question: How to I set the crystals to all be aligned in the same direction. Currently, they emit in different directions – which is nice and usually what I want. However, in this case I would like to have them all aligned. I am trying to use the emitter to create icicles ‘growing’ out of the ground, and I would like to have them aligned. I have tried changing every property but I cannot see how to control the angle of emission.

From the initial file I looked at, it appears the Crystal Stem is actually 17 images. Maybe under the Crystals Hierarchy Window section click the Astrix symbol next to sections called Blinks and Stone. Then under Crystals properties select the Keep particles in order?
I am still trying to figure out stuff with this software and since I can only “play” with it part-time It is taking me longer to learn this great software.
Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction better than I can.

Open the emitter properties dialog for the stage emitter.
Select the “Crystals” particle type in the hierarchy at the left
In the middle pane set the “random range” value to 0 (it’s at 60 right now)That’s it.
There are some growing icicle emitters already. Use particleView and search for “icicle”.

that did the trick – thanks.
BTW – I had tried the other icicle ones – but this one give me the nearest to an ice-building growing.
In fact, the search facility is superb – it is a very fast way of trying to find emitters.
