  • Question about Cinema 4D

Hi! I’m trying to quickly learn C4D and am currently just trying to try organic modeling techniques from a tutorial, like modeling from a cube with subdivision surface on it. Every time I make a cut with the loop cut tool (M -> L), I somehow get into a mode where I try to edit things further, such as selecting the loop I just made, selecting individual points, or even extrude faces, but nothing responds. There is just a small cube on the axis of type of thing I select (an edge, a point, or a face), and when I try to transform, move, or rotate it, the model doesn’t respond at all. This has happened on two different computers and am unsure of what I am doing wrong. Is there a button after loop cut I need to press to have things go back to normal? I’m in the newest Cinema 4D update.

    Hi Jessica,

I think that because the UV Mode is enabled for some reason in your version, you could disable it by clicking on the icon at the top of the screen. If the icon isn’t there, go to UVEdit Mode and disable the icon from there. Then return to the Standard Mode and continue working. I’ve tried to explain how to fix this in both scenarios in the screen recording below. I hope this is helpful.

Oh my god I didn’t even notice that. Thank you so much. Apologies for the inconvenience but thank you so much for the video! It helped me visually see what was up! I can’t thank you enough!
