  • Question about bitrate

I just exported a bunch of videos thru mpegstreamclip and they say they have a bitrate of around 40,000. They’re in 720. Is this overkill? What does fcp export for their ‘high’ quality?

These are meant to be finished versions for the client so I want them at a high quality, but I have trouble playing them on my old MacBook pro and don’t wanna have them be bigger then they need to be

They are just being used for internet

I guess you are talking about H264 and you mean 40.000Kbps (40Mbps).
That is the data rate of top quality H264 Bluray compliant for 1080p25/30 or 720p50/60.
You need a very fast internet connexion to play that in real time.

Probably. H264 BluRay generally looks pretty good at anywhere around 30 Mbps. I was working with a client who wanted a CBR DVD (720×480) to play smoothly on laptops, and we settled at around 4MBps.
