Question about bit depth and Quicktime files
Posted by Chris Wiseman on June 13, 2006 at 3:55 pmAre QTs 8bit, and is it possible to really create a 10 bit QT? Thanks in advance.

June 13, 2006 at 4:15 pmJust remember QT is nothing more than a container for ANY bit depth movie… it’s not determined by QT, but rather the codec involved.

For instance, in AE, you’ll need to make sure your comp is set to 16-bit or higher. In FCP, your captured media needs to have been captured in 10-bit and are working in a 10-bit timeline.
Both the standard Apple 10-bit uncompressed codec and BMD 10-bit uncompressed codec will work.
