Activity Forums VEGAS Pro question about AV to DV conversion

  • question about AV to DV conversion

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I’ve been running AV through my Digital camera to convert it to DV and capture it onto my computer. I’ve noticed on some of the tapes I don’t get as good of results once its coverted to DV and onto my computer as the tape is when playing on my TV. I’ve also noticed that on some clips, there is choppiness although there was no frames dropped. Is the problem I’m having normal or could it be that my video camera doesn’t do that good of a job of conversion? If that is the case, would I get better results if I were to buy the ADS AV link? Thanks in advance.

How are you judging the capture? Just playing off the timeline or doing a Print to Tape?

How does the video look on the capture preview during capture?

I’m judging it during the print to tape and also rendering it as an mpeg for watching on my computer. I couldn’t really notice any major flaws when previewing on vegas, but its very noticeable when I watch it rendered or printed to tape, not sure if its because its a much bigger screen and easier to tell or not.
