  • Question about 4k workflow

Posted by Sam Mayfield on September 13, 2016 at 4:30 pm

I am about to buy the Panasonic DVX 200. I am also about to switch over from FCP 7 to Premiere. Can someone tell me what I should expect in terms of new workflow? Also, If I don’t need to shoot in 4k will I have the option to only shoot in HD?

    Hi
Yes, the DVX200 will also shoot in HD
As far as work flow, I use FCPX, and legacy FCP 7
    No issues in importing 4K.
Just make sure your FCP is current and you might need to upgrade your MAc. I did, but it was 5 years old

I would agree on that Bernie Mitchell. There is no problem in working with workflow. Upgrading your Mac will be better.

Good call on switching to Premier Pro! Just make sure your project and sequence settings always match your footage perfectly. The set ups are uniquely diffeferent.

As for 4K footage Vs Hd. Sometimes they take up the same amount of space depending on what mode you are in. Meaning sometimes the bits per second are similar and your better off just shooting 4K on everything and having the extra frame to work with in the HD project file.
