Quartz Extreme capable video card error
Posted by Elliot Gaynon on August 17, 2009 at 11:51 pmHi All-
I am working on a project in FCP and i keep getting the following message.
“This system does not meet the following minimum system requirements: Final Cut Pro requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card”.
After doing google searches, I found the only solutions to be:
a) changing the DVI port
or
b) disable the desktop in decklink
Howver, these solutions have still not solved the problem, as the error message keeps coming up. Any further ideas?
Thanks

August 18, 2009 at 1:34 pmI occasionally get the same error and so far a simple reboot has always fixed it. I would like to know, however, why it happens.

September 30, 2009 at 2:56 amThis just happened to me for the first time.
No update. Didn’t change anything on my system.
I’m running 10.5.8 with a Kona 3, FCP 6.0.6.

January 1, 2010 at 3:41 pmI have the same error message occasionally. I close my session and relog and hurry to launch FCP and it works . It’s really annoying. The graphics capabilities are actually reduced when this message occurs. I’ve noticed playback issues in QT but I don’t know why this happens. I have a MBP 8 cores 2008 with 8Go, a Decklink Extreme HD 2 with Final CUt Studio 3 up to date.

May 20, 2010 at 10:55 pmHey,
I just got it to work by logging out, logging in, going to System Preferences->Displays->Detect Displays, and popping in and out of Dashboard (accidentally).
One of those, or a combination thereof, worked. Still don’t what exacerbates the issue. Nice to not have to shutdown though. If it happens again I’ll try the combo in reverse, one by one. Only seems to happen rarely though.
Just noticed you were talking about a Decklink card. I use Aja Kona LHi.
Ok, aloha.

November 8, 2012 at 3:50 pmSame thing here. Out of the blue. Haven’t used my system for a while and this error comes up when I try to launch fcp. Worked through it yesterday by opening an old project but no go today. Very disturbing gremlin.

November 27, 2012 at 11:59 pmI had to drop off my main workstation for repair so when I fired up an old IMac to get some work done while the other gets worked on I got this error message. As others have noted nothing has changed on this old Mac which used to run FCP flawlessly. What worked for me was to change the display setting from Thousands of colors back to Millions. For some reason I must have been testing something and had to mess with that setting.
Hope it helps someone out there.

Xavier
