Qualityloss exporting into Proress422?
Hello,
I’m capturing from HDV tape into FCP7 with proress 422.
I want to work with multicam and so the ingested tapes need to be 1 file per tape.
Some tapes have glitches thus creating 2 files.
So I want to take these 2 files on the sequence, line them out, accept a little black scene in between and export it into proress 422, so that the export wil be the new sourcefile to use with multicam.
Will this sourcefile lose visual quality, when I use it into the multicamsequence?

You will be fine. ProRes is a visually lossless codec and stands up pretty well to re-encoding up to around 5-7 generations. 1 or 2 will have virtually no impact on your footage.

if you put the ProRes files in an identical sequence,
and export from that sequence using “Same Settings”
there wil be no generational loss at all, merely a transfer of one & zeros.and just so you know, FCPX multicam can deal with camera stop / stats.
