    He could also change his RT settings to High on Video Playback Quality and Dynamic for Playback Frame Rate, which would of course playback unrendered material at a lower framerate, but at high quality.

    Nope, its that FCP is optimized for realtime playback, mostly done by limiting the video throughput one way or another that’s required for display in the canvas.
