quality of dvds
using sony vegas, files are avi files i’m editing. Using power producer to burn. Just not happy with the quality of the dvds,dont know if im not rendering correctly or what, any suggestions as to what I can do to make these dvds look great. Camera im using is a dvx100a panasonic.

Your problem aint deriving from vegas…and “mpeg2” is the
format to render to when rendering for DVD.
My recommendation for making clean basic DVD’s is always

What’s your workflow? Are you rendering as DV AVI files? or are you rendering to MPEG2 to feed into Power Producer? What render templates are you using?

I tried rendering it to mpeg 2 but still isnt up to my standards for a great looking dvd. really wanting to get into film making, Christian films and not sure how to go about this with the equiptment i have.

If you are feeding Power Producer a DV AVI file then you are at their mercy for your quality. This is not a Vegas issue. Instead… in Vegas I would render using the MainConcept MPEG2 using the one of the DVD Architect xxx templates and render your audio as Dolby Digital AC3 and then feed those two files into Power Producer. If it won’t take separate video and audio streams then you’ll have to render the audio with the video. Make sure that Power Producer is NOT re-rendering the MPEG2 file that you give it. If it does, it’s not going to look good.
Why aren’t you using Sony DVD Architect? That would solve this whole problem with Power Producer.

I do have dvd architect but havent had it long enough to know how to use it. maybe you can give me some pointers on how and what I need to do to use it. thanks

Open it, drag and drop your video onto the menu, change the title, press the Make DVD button. It couldn’t be easier.
We have Vegas and DVD Architect training in the VASST Absolute Training for Vegas + DVD Beginner Bundle. This will take you step by step through the process of making DVD’s with DVD Architect.

Before you render, don’t forget to add your chapter makers. That’s always a must in my work flow.
