    I’ve got an annoying problem with Final Cut Express that I can’t figure out. I’m scaling clips to a larger size and they look fine until I render them. As soon as I render they become really poor and blocky.

    The clips are HDV that have been put in an SD sequence and are scaled down.

    I found one other post about this same problem, but it was five years ago. Why do clips look good when unrendered?

    Just on my computer monitor, I don’t have anything else set up. It’s weird, I scale an HDV clip only 70% and it looks like Mario Brothers the quality is so bad. The regular DV stuff, which is at 100%, looks better.

    Another thing I’ve noticed is my HDV clips, which are 1920X1080, become 1280X1080 when I import them to Final Cut. I don’t like that.
