With each iteration of my Vegas Pro 9.0 project, the video quality declines.

I started with 1920X1080 60i raw input. Because I’m going to show this video sometimes on the internet, and sometimes in PowerPoint, I reprocessed this down to 720X480 24p.

    I expected that degradation.

I assemble all my bits, output to .avi, 720X480, 24p, progressive scan, and it looks reasonable in Windows Media player.

I go to combine all of my segments into one long demo using the project settings above, and I notice a lot more lines, spurious colors, and the image just isn’t as sharp as the output from the step above.

    Any suggestions?

Because you’re recompressing recompressed media. Do the initial editing at 1920 and keep it as pristine as you can, for as long as you can. Recompression of recompressed media is *always* a poor plan.
