New to Premiere Pro. I have both newly installed a Quadro 4000 card into a MacPro into a 2×2.66 6core, 10.7.3 system with the trial version of PPRO 6. When I check the project settings tab, under the video renderer and Playback drop down, there is no option for GPU acceleration, only a greyed out software only option.
Is this correct for this hardware setup? Cuda is installed with the latest driver as well as the latest driver from nVidia.
    Additionally, I am planning on using a BMD Decklink card to provide external monitoring with premiere, is it still too early to know if this will work? (don’t have the card yet, currently have Matrox Mini and don’t know when Matrox will support PP6}
    thanks
    Bill

Oooops, didnt have my coffee yet. I see you are not running 2 cards at this point.I believe that can be a problem with certain combinations.
Make sure you have installed both the Nvidia driver (CUDA 4.1.29 driver for MAC) seems to now be running fine on my system)(there is a very new one you can try as well) AND the GPU Driver (7.18.11 270.05.20f02). Maybe thats the issue

Bill I’m not sure why your mercury gpu accel is grayed out
other than your running lion. you might try the previous version of CUDA.
Tom D had an issue with the latest CUDA and he’s basically running the same as you.

I have an 8-core macpro, quadro 4000 and snow leopard.

gpu accel is on and working with CS 6.

I just now played a completely unrendered sequence from a fw 800
external drive. it was 1080p 23.976 and it plays smoothly all the way
through, though the audio sync drifts. But the exported video was
    completely in sync.

In cs 5.5 it would have been stopping every few seconds and stuttering on playback.

forgot to mention I’m running the cs 6 compatible driver
    from black magic. Ver 9.5

Thanks guys. I just installed the older Cuda driver you mentioned but no change. The nVidia driver I have and have access to is 270.00.00f01, not the 7.18.11 270.05.20f02 driver you mention. The driver I am using is the latest one on the nVidia web site. Could you direct me to the one you are mentioning? Am I confused on this?
    thanks

Bill have you tried uninstalling the quadro driver?

the Nvidia site says it’s built in to Lion.

    maybe that might help.

I think that other driver might be snow leopard only.

    Tom & Chris
I was able to both get back to the CUDA version you recommend as well as the GPU driver you recommend. No luck. Not sure what else to try.

that is odd, it should be working.

try repairing permissions from the disk utility.

I loaded everything on a spare drive, clean OS, everything is working fine. Spent the rest of the day rebuilding that drive but all is well for now. Thanks for your support
