QT to Flash 9
Posted by John Doggett-williams on September 24, 2010 at 4:48 amAny clues as to how transform my HDV 1280×720 QT to this weird size 720 X 1280 (it’s for a pillar). It has to be finished as a Flash 9 file. Yikes! I have access to my original FCP timeline and play out to a different codec if necessary.
Thanks to all you generous pros out there. These threads make living the life of a hermit possible.

September 24, 2010 at 5:20 amWell this is not as simple as rotating the video, did you shot this 9:16 (turning the camera to vertical), if not did you edit knowing a good bit of the sides are going to have to be cropped?

September 24, 2010 at 5:21 amYou need the QT-Flash Component.
After installing, Flash will be an option for exporting from most QT applications (QT Pro, FC, Compressor,..).
I know that you get the component when installing some Adobe applications, but I don’t know if you can purchase it as stand alone.
I think that its comes included as well in some applications like Squeeze

September 24, 2010 at 11:33 amNo. You do not need to buy the Flash component. You already have it. Adobe Flash uses H.264 as a format. This is really nice. Just compress to an H.264 QuickTime file and change the extension .mov to .flv That’s it! You now have a Flash file. This the reason why all of the third-party codec vendor stopped production on new Flash encoders.

September 24, 2010 at 11:56 amNo. You do this on the completed QuickTime file itself.

September 24, 2010 at 7:31 pmUse Compressor to make the H.264 file and change its extension from .mov to .flv.
