    Hey all,

    I selecte an uncompressed 10 bit 1080 60i clip in the timeline, export as a QT Self Contained movie, using existing settings; the original 4.02GB clip ends up 48.52GB;

    Of 22 total clips I exported, varying lengths and sizes, all ended up the same huge size.

    These are color corrected (in FCP) clips, so I had to export from the timeline.

    What the heck did I do wrong?

    FCP 6, 10.4.9, 7.1.6, G-5 dual 2.7, 4.5 GB ram, 4.5TB RAID 0.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Just had a friend tell me what I did: I exported from the timeline as the selected window, and not the viewer; thus I exported the entire timeline each time, not just the intended clip.

    Livin’ and learnin’.

    [Piper] “I exported from the timeline as the selected window, and not the viewer; thus I exported the entire timeline each time, not just the intended clip.”

    Gary,

    Please explain? This does not sound like the typical FCP methodology, but could just be a lingo thing…

    Normally when exporting just part of a timeline, all you have to do mark in and out points anywhere on the timeline, being absolutely certain to click in an empty gray zone so no clips are mistakenly selected, and then export. Using the viewer is not a necessary part of the process…

    David,

    You are right: marking the in & out points on the timeline is the other way to do it; I did neither; one o’clock in the morning, I think my neurons were making gas. As in Brain F—s.

    Thanks for your response.
