QT Ref to Adobe Encore- DVD vid looks jaggy
Just trying to figure out the proper workflow of exporting a QT Ref from Avid to burn a DVD in Encore. I’m working with HDV, so I’ve transcoded the sequence to DNX 145. Then I make a QT Ref and work with that in Encore. The problem is that my output DVD video looks jaggy when there’s fast motion onscreen. The video only looks jagged on the actual DVD playing on a television- the picture seems to look fine when I play the QT Ref in Avid, Encore or QT on my computer before outputting to DVD. Any ideas? Is it a setting in Avid or Encore that I should be changing?

Avid added this lil bug when they left the Meridien line. You’ll have to do a video mixdown before exporting the reference file or all your precomputes will offer scan lines for ya.
Even with the mix downs, you’ll notice any speedramps you have still doing it. I resulted to laying my shows off to beta then recapturing. A 90 munite uncompressed mixdown is not always doable after editing a longform show on limited drive space.
