I’m very new to Final Cut. I’m sure this is simple but I just can’t figure it out. I have a transition that is a Quicktime and an alpha of the transition as a separate Quicktime movie. So, they are two different clips. I can’t figure out how to have my video show through the transition. Can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to do this please?

Look up “track matte alpha” in the online manual under the Help menu.

Thanks so much. Now how do I put a lower 3rd done the same way- 2 Quicktimes- on one video clip? I’m assuming I can’t use a transition since I’m not transitioning between two clips.I really appreciate your help.

Same thing. You you use the alpha as a track matte for the fill.
