QT movie is distorted
I have three related questions:
1) I have imported a QT movie into AE and it is wider than it appears in FCP (that, or the dancer just gained some weight). How do I correct the distortion?
2) Once I finish working with it in AE I will import it to FCP to contintue working with it. Will I continue to run into problems? What do I need to do to avoid or fix them?
3) I expect these issues have to do with square v. non-square pixels. I have yet to fully understand what the difference is, and how and when each is used (hence questions 1 & 2). Can you point me to a source that explains all of this? It will continue to come up as I move media among FC, AE, Photoshop and Illustrator.

1. It is supposed to be fat on a computer monitor in AE, normal on a TV. FCP compensates to make it look normal on a computer monitor . To make it look normal in AE temporarily, click the pixel aspect ratio correction switch at the bottom of the comp window. Switch it off when rendering, since it degrades the image.
2. As long as you render it as non-square pixels, you’ll be fine in FCP.

Tip:
To make a comp that has the same settings as your footage, drag the footage from the project window to the “new comp” button at the bottom of the project window.Steve
