  • QT losing sync on import

So, I’ve got a Quicktime movie that is DV/NTSC and plays just fine in Quicktime.
When I import into FCP, it starts losing sync (audio falls behind picture).

Have checked settings, trashed prefs, created a new movie from the previous one…um..scratched my head..you know, the usual.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Eric

would help tremendously if you’d include the camera or deck information.
    I’ll bet it’s a Canon.
Separate the audio from the video tracks. Mark the end of the video. Mark the end of the audio. Trim the audio to the outpoint. Get info on the video, note the exact length of the clip.
Use speed adjust on the audio track to change it to exactly that same length. Render. Relink the tracks or group them into a new sequence and export them as a self contained movie.

Thanks for the time remap suggestion. The clip was actually an FCP export from a sequence timeline. The clip was exported without adjustment as a master QT to go to Compressor. That side of the process worked fine. When the clip got reimported into the same FCP project to pull scenes for the trailer and the web it was losing synch. Since I am only pulling small sections I think your time remap may work fine, but it is such a strange problem I thought someone might be able to help me figure out what happened, or is it just one of those things.

    Thanks again,
