Not sure exactly where to post this, there’s no QT or Cleaner Forum.
We’re exporting a 2minute QT movie from FCPHD and then bringing it into Cleaner to compress and resize and then posting to our ftp site for a client to view.
This has never been a problem, but In this particular case, the client want’s the QT movie to be viewable on the webpage, but not downloadable.

We use QT 6.5.2 pro and Cleaner 6. Using QT pro I’m usually able to download trailers from the web, but occasionally I notice the download function is unavailable, so I know it’s possible.

    Thanks

I am sure there is some other way to do it, but when I add the movie to the page in Adobe Go Live…in the Inspector under Quicktime, there is an option called Kiosk mode, which disables Saving and drag and drop of the file.

I see the Cow’s Quicktime forum has gone away, probably because Philip has moved on to greener pastures.

I am no web expert, but I believe this would have to be done on the streaming/web side. You said that you post the movies to an ftp site, usually that is download only (not a streaming server). Even though your client is using their browser to download & play the movie within the browser, they still are just downloading none the less. I believe you would need to set it up on some sort of streaming server, or encode it in an unsavable format like real player. If they are worried about it being copied/distributed, you can always watermark it with a still image right there in cleaner.

    Hope this helps a little

Basically, I believe you need to use the tag (which triggers the quicktime player from the browser), and set kioskmode to “true” or “yes”.

Here’s a link at Apple which might help.

Sorry I put ‘ embed ‘ in my above message, and it was read as an embed tag. The missing word is embed (such as “I should embed a little common sense between my ears”).
