I’m currently working in an HDV 108024p timeline at 23.98fps. I was going to post a scene i’d cut in this timeline on Youtube, but the results I’m getting by exporting via Quicktime Conversion are horrible to say the least. Fast cuts seem to throw things off, and the sound goes out of sync. I tried both MPEG 4 and H264 and neither are working. I then exported an MPEG 2 via Compressor, burned a DVD from that file, and it played just fine. Any advice on the problem with the QT?

I should also note that quite a few frames didn’t make it into the QT. That’s why things go out of sync. These frames seem to get dropped during those moments with quick cuts.

    In your case…

It would be much better to export a full res Quicktime and let Compressor do the work for you. Otherwise, you’ll have to change your settings in the Quicktime Conversion window yourself, which could get rather tedious.

Thanks so much. I’ll give that a shot.

HDV to SD is a tricky process. You could also try dropping the HDV footage on a DV sequence, rendering in FCP then exporting that.

    Awesome. I’ll try that too.
