    Hi,
I am working with a lot of hd footage and it takes me very long time to import, edit, play and convert it. I have the new mbp i7, and i was thinking of using apple qmaster and connecting my mechine to a second computer. Do you have any idea if qmaster can ‘help’ fcp? What should i use for the 2nd computer(i7 3ddr?)?

How do i connect the computers? I dont have fiber…
    Thank you
    Chai

Qmaster will not ‘help’ FCP in. It can make a difference for Compressor. But it is notoriously difficult to get qmaster to work across multiple computers and even if you get it to work it may not give you any real life benefit as the overhead of transferring the frames may be bigger than the increase in processing speed.

Qmaster won’t make any difference in FCP. But it can make HUGE difference if you’re spending many hours waiting for Compressor to crunch files.

You’ll get best performance with a cluster if you connect your computers through a gigabit ethernet switch using network cables rated for gigabit speed.

This article can help you get your cluster set up.
