  • Pyrocluster – static clouds?

How can make some static clouds with pyrocluster?

It sounds like it should be easy.
I’ve tried to make an array of points / nulls. I’ve tried to make a particle emitter editable. I’ve tried using a bunch of spheres inside a null.. nothing renders, only a normal particle system renders. But that’s no good – I need it static and I can’t make my particles emit, then stop.

    Any ideas?
    thanks

with the standard particle emitter you could add a Friction object and keyframe the strength from 0 to something very high (ie 1000) when you want the particles to freeze.

Thanks – will give that a go.

I’ve been digging around and reading about the Sky Object system (objects/sky). I never realised this was different to the other Sky (objects/scene/sky). Seems a bit confusing to me!

It seems the volumetric cloud option in the sky object will do what I want, and there are some great sky textures as presets.

The only thing is, my clouds are rendering black. Can’t figure out why – going to have a google and try to find some tuts.

    Many thanks

On this page at the bottom there is a Pyrocluster cloud file that is static. It may help you if you still want to use Pyrocluster. It’s at the bottom, called TP Fluffy Cloud. I have used this and it works, but it takes a long time to render, as do most Pyrocluster objects.
