Hi I’d like to show heat movement in a room.
Up until now I’ve been using a steam preset in particular in AFX to show the heat moving around the room.
Its not compositing well and I was wondering if there are some pyrocluster presets that can be downloaded and also if its possible for pyrocluster to follow a spline (as I’d like to show it moving in a circular motion – red/hot at the ceiling and cold/blue at the floor). I’m looking for a quickfix – am I crazy trying to attempt this in pyrocluster if I’ve never used it before ?

you can definitely control the color based on distance (or age) with pyrocluster. Following a spline is function of the particles, not pyrocluster, that really is volumetric ‘puffs’ around a particle. So you would need TP particles or X-Particles to get the particles to follow your spline. There is a fair amount of control over the look but a limited number of built in presets so it helps to have some practice already as it’s a definite learning curve.
