Pyrocluster explosion effect

Im trying to make an explosion effect in cinema i have access to after effects and some stock footage explosions but they dont always suit the animations im producing, could anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial that deals with only cinema 4d and none of the expensive plugins as every tutorial seems to need one or more and they are way too expensive for me
What sort of explosions are you looking to create? A fuel truck explosion is very different from a planet blowing up which is very different from an artillery shell hitting the ground in the desert, etc.
