PXW X200 Firmware
My camera died at the beginning of a shoot yesterday. Camera only has 45hrs on it in total
It was in full auto, but set to manual focus
About 20 seconds after hitting record, the focus went to a “macro” look, and the iris closed up.
After several shut downs and start ups, it did not correct it’self.
I would like to update the firmware . Presently has 2.3
I have found the download for 2.5, but NOWHERE is there instructions on how to update the firmware on this model.
I do have the manual, I have searched the web.Thanks for any help

Hi,
when you expand the firmware distribution package you should see group of files. In there is a pdf that has a name like: VerUpOM_Handy(E).pdfThere are other language versions there.
In spite of the unpromising name this doc contains the upgrade instructions.

What is meant by “root directory”
If I drop the binary file onto my freshly formatted FAT card…..the camera says “no file”

I only use UDF Format, I can’t see that making a difference but worth keeping in mind as a last resort. FAT is supported but the comments about formatting on the camera remain.
Use the camcorder to be upgraded to format the disk (I think this is the problem).
The root directory, where you are placing it should be fine. I.e. the one at the top level on the device.
Note the warning about exFAT. That being so you should put it under the XDROOT directory.
Is it possible your SxS card is not formatted as UDF or FAT?Can you see an XDROOT folder on the SxS card?
How are you getting the upgrade file on to the SxS card? I use the SBAC-US20.
Follow the other warnings about not leaving other media in there.
That should work. I’ve never had any problems but then again – I’ve not upgraded very often.
