PVM-14L5 still a viable option for 1080p footage?
I have a PVM-14L5 and would like to view footage edited from my FCP Macbook Pro setup with a Matrox MXO2 mini. Footage we mostly work with are avc-inta, dvcprohd, avchd, hdv and dslr footage. My monitor has 800 lines of resolution. Will I still be able to view accurately and color correct on this monitor? Or is it time to move up to an FSI monitor? Thoughts from other PVM users. Thanks!

I use it, that exact model. An will until I can get that FSI monitor. Not ideal, but it works. When you send it a 1080i signal, it says 1080i on the monitor…so it gets the signal. Just not pixel for pixel.

If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t use it. I had it next to an FSI for 2 weeks.

I too would like an FSI but am saving up for one. How did the PVM look compared to the FSI? Was there a considerable difference? Thanks again Shane.

IT was darn close. I mean..the blacks were better on the CRT, because they just are. But other than that, identical. Just it is such a small image to look at.
