putting my reel on the net
Posted by Donato M. rondinelli on August 3, 2007 at 8:29 pmI want to putting my reel on the web. Is there an inexpensive way to post high quality clips? I don’t want to recompress on sites like youtube & I don’t want to build a site from scratch. Is there a cookie cutter website tailored to media professionals? I want to upload a dozen clips & add my contact info & be done with it. Maybe something for a few dollars a month?
Thanks!

How’s the compression? Do I have to provide them a compressed mov so they can recompress it? Their example looks great. I’m wondering if my video will look as good?Another related question and I think I know the answer. Are employers allowing some grace when it comes to online examples or do they expect pristine? I would guess average quality translates to average editor which translates to no job.
Thoughts?Donato M. Rondinelli

I don’t know what they do to it, but I just put things up at 480×360 in H264 at the original frame rate. So far I’m happy with the result. I’m gonna put another movie up this morning with the above specs, we’ll see how it looks later.

FYI Vimeo is using Flash, and they’re doing nice conversions.

August 4, 2007 at 5:42 pmOh, and here’s the link, this was an H264 movie, and they converted it and got it up in about 10 minutes!
Enjoy!
