  • Putting data onto a DVD-video

    Hi,

Is there a way I can create a DVD which has a DVD-video partition for play-back on set-top players and a DVD-data partition for computer-readable data (high definition video, in this case)? I assume this is possible within the DVD spec. But I dunno how to actually do this using Encore and Nero.

    Does anyone have any hints?!?

Any help will be very greatfully received.

    Many thanks,
    Jack

There are a couple of ways to do this:

    1. Encore allows you to specify a folder of DVD-ROM (data) content. It’s an option under the Disc tab. Simply put all of your content in one folder, and point Encore at it, and it will burn it to disc (or include it when you export to a disc image).

    2. Export from Encore as a DVD folder. With Nero, burn that content (the VIDEO_TS folder) to the root of the DVD, and put on whatever other content you want on the disc.

Great, thanks a lot for the reply! I like nice and simply sollutions!

I guess that was a bit of a “RTFM” moment! Thanks very much for the reply.

or you could create a link from your DVD menus to the high definition video file with eDVD 4 so that users won’t have to explore the disc to look for the hi-def content.

    https://www.sonic.com/products/Professional/eDVD/quicklook.aspx

Then you would either bring the eDVD content into Encore as suggested or just burn a disc with your Video_TS, Audio_TS and the ROM content created by eDVD.
